How to play

Follow the single next step in the play panel. Start the suggested job, respond to a crew decision, or answer a learning question.

You choose the route. “Choose different work” lets you switch access methods, inspect blocked work, or remove access early. Undo lets you recover.

Game time only moves while a crew works or you choose a delay. Learning questions never spend your time or budget. You can leave them until later.

Take the idea further

What is left when the work is over?

A gantry and the installation it enables belong to different descriptions of the project. The finished units are products; setting up, installing and inspecting are processes. The records are evidence, and the gantry is temporary means.

The rules behind the game

Physical actions, access constraints and completion obligations come directly from the essay’s model. Each inspection represents a successful inspection and its record.

Costs, hours, shift incidents and quiz scenarios are fictional training assumptions added for the game. They are not engineering estimates. The units are deliberately generic; this is a two-unit fit-out, not a simulation of constructing the whole Solway tunnel.

You learn through choices and explanations. It does not infer new methods, certify safety or model inspection failures.
